For Administrators

Easy and Centralized Serving for End Users

Aside from all of the benefits NetMan offers your network users, one of the most pertinent features for administrators is that centrally located applications and information can be published without requiring any particular communication between administrator and end user, because NetMan integrates them completely in the familiar environment. Perhaps most importantly, you do not need to give users any login data to enable their access to central services.

Once you have defined your applications and information sources in NetMan, you can make access permissions dependent on your choice of conditions; for example:

Platform Independence

In terminal server environments, the administrator of the central system can set up applications and data sources completely independently of the client computers, and without assigning the client any rights in administrative areas.

Application Management

NetMan can do much more than just launch applications:

Internet Controls

NetMan lets you control users' Internet access. You can block unrestricted Internet surfing while permitting access to relevant websites or web servers for specific information sources or applications. For example, you can permit access over the Internet to the Office online help and ClipArt collections when an Office program is launched, while allowing access only within the intranet when a browser is launched.

Availability and Load Balancing

In the terminal server environment, NetMan can automatically log users onto the active servers that have the lightest load at the time of logon.

License Management

NetMan has two methods for controlling access to licensed applications and information sources:

Access to licensed applications and data sources can be logged. This means costs and total use of licenses can be analyzed to determine, for example, whether too many or too few licenses have been purchased for a given application.

Monitoring and Reporting

NetMan provides comprehensive data for administrators, including:

Multi-client Capability and Cost Sharing

Within a single NetMan installation, you can configure a variety of tailored information and application presentations for individual clients. The powerful usage analysis features let you allocate publishing costs according to client.
